Project introduction

The concept of incorporating song lyrics into music videos has been present since the inception of music videos. Two examples are R.E.M.'s "Fall On Me" from 1986 and George Michael's "Praying for Time" from 1990. Despite the visual similarity to fan-made videos featuring static words fading in and out over the audio, these videos are actually official versions and not pre-video. This is likely the reason why the font and color choices are more deliberate than using Lucida Calligraphy and RGB 255 blue. "Sign of the Times" (1987) by Prince bears a stronger resemblance to contemporary lyric videos. However, the most iconic lyric video is Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Blues" (1965).

Our national objective as South Africans is to commemorate our heritage; I accomplished this by producing a lyric video for our most cherished indigenous song. It was my responsibility to implement the initial verses and chorus in an artistic manner that corresponds with the song's lyrics' meaning. I was tasked with producing a lyric video for the song Spin My World by DJ Kent

Design Prosses
The Concept I Have:
Having witnessed DJ Kent perform live, I thoroughly enjoyed observing the atmosphere and the way in which the audience members interacted with him. My plan was to have a DJ booth illuminated with neon signs.
